The wood is polished to a sheen. and soft and inviting to the touch. The armrests are superbly positioned for height and shape. The seat and back cradle you in superlative comfort. Absolutely everything about this chair has been mapped out for relentless comfort and sturdiness. It disgusts me to realize how many mistakes and shortcuts other manufacturers are happy to pass off as "finished" products. This is our 3rd; and sitting in this baby ALWAYS plasters the smile on my face. I give it 5 stars, 24 karat, Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa. And it arrived faster than a speeding bullet!
